India is set to regulate its assisted reproductive treatment industry, including IVF and surrogacy, the Times of India reports.
The ART Bill 2010 has put in place several important provisions. A surrogate mother can not be less than 21 years or over 35 and can not give birth to more than five live babies, including her own. No woman can be treated with the gametes or embryos of more than one man or woman during any one treatment cycle. An ART clinic can not mix semen from two individuals before use.
